You know how all those Famous Bloggers have, like, regular posts of link collections? They do! At this point Loyal Readers™ will have already wondered where we are going with this, knowing as they do that the chances of us regularly doing this kind of thing—or any kind of thing—regularly are spectacularly low. But never mind that! Fortunately, the Palace has one rule and one rule only: we post whatever we want, whenever we want. (A bit of Palace insider jargon: this sacrosanct guiding principle is referred to by the clever label of “Rule Number 1.”) Therefore, I am well within the strictures of Palace tradition by declaring today the First Inaugural Weekly or Perhaps Bi-Weekly, Maybe Monthly? Quarterly? Yeah, Probably the Only One Ever WEDNESDAY MOCKAROUND!
- Qatar’s accidental vagina stadium is most gratifying. “And after all, why not have 45,000 people crammed inside a woman’s reproductive system? It’s not like they haven’t been there before.”
- Rush Limbaugh Mocks an Obese Drug Addict. Rush Limbaugh is a revolting human being. Not because he is obese, or because he is a drug addict. Those things are manifestly NOT mockworthy. No, Rush Limbaugh is a revolting human being not least because he thinks they are.
- Mom as the New Face of Anarchy? Police Terrorize Americans Who Object to Right-Wing Lunacy by Using “Anarchist” Label. 81-year-old Barbara Parramore is a former Sunday school teacher who served in North Carolina’s public education system for half a century as a teacher, elementary school principal, and professor of education at N.C. State University; she has also authored many books for young readers. Since retiring “she has been engaged in such radical activities as raising money for a 4-H museum, volunteering with the Carolina Ballet, and sharing her modest savings with her alma mater to set up a scholarship.” But that was apparently all a cover for her true nefarious plans: according to North Carolina police, Barbara Parramore is a “suspected anarchist.” After all, she attended a protest—along with her Baptist pastor—against the right-wing state government’s education cuts. (OMG!) Just look at her, people! OBVIOUSLY THINKING DANGEROUS THOUGHTS ABOUT EDUCATION. (Also: anarchy.) Well, I’m sure you’ll agree we can all rest better knowing she was arrested.
This concludes our First Inaugural Weekly or Perhaps Bi-Weekly, Maybe Monthly? Quarterly? Yeah, Probably the Only One Ever WEDNESDAY MOCKAROUND.
