Thom Hartmann is 100% wrong about who killed the public option.

In an excerpt from his new book at Salon, “liberal” muckety-muck Thom Hartmann lays the blame for Obamacare’s lack of a Medicare buy-in option on Sarah Palin, the Koch Brothers and Fox News. I call bullshit. Why, it’s almost as if this Hartmann d00d doesn’t even read my blog. Otherwise, he would know:

The White House killed the public option.

The White House killed the public option.

The White House killed the public option.

Also: the White House killed the public option.

It is true that radical right wanted no health reform—unless you call the complete destruction of Medicare and Medicaid “reform.” But Obama’s ACA is a market-based program straight out of the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank. It’s Romneycare gone national. And the Democratic president killed the public option in a secret deal in July 2009—while pretending to support it.

Unfortunately, thanks to the Thom Hartmanns of the world, the Democrats’ narrative that radical Republicans killed the public option will probably stick.

It’s not true.
