On my mind.

Egypt. A 12 year old boy ‘splains the Muslim Brotherhood power grab. I fucking love this kid SO HARD. Watch:

bitches gotta eat. Samantha Irby is my new favorite blogger, hands down. I get giddy with excitement the moment I see a new post in my inbox. Her writing is as sublime as it is profane; she is as stunningly honest as she is gut-busting hilarious. Ms. Irby has Crohn’s disease, and this post about a speed-dating event she attended in an adult diaper is a classic. (Not for the squeamish: consider yourself warned.) She makes me happy to be a human.

“I am sorry that it has come to this”: A Soldier’s Last Words. Read it. And weep.

The Canadian train derailment. The death toll, the environmental destruction, the cynical use of this accident (and others like it) to build more pipelines — all of it sickens me. (To see “journalists” uncritically propagandizing for more pipelines, see the end of the video clip at that link.)

Gasland Part II. (Now running on HBO.) Josh Fox catches us up on the shenanigans of the motherfrackers and their dutiful political servants, and gets himself arrested in the process. I thought the film was a little long, but well worth watching regardless. Think Progress has a good piece on it here. This is the official trailer:

This post at Pharyngula. Or more accurately, the regular commenters feasting on a Christian troll who shows up to fling poo all over the place. Most entertaining. The pompous godbot turns up at comment 43, gets his ass handed to him on a silver platter, then declares victory and leaves . (Loyal Readers™ will no doubt discern symptoms of CPD.) Behold the power of The Horde.

Texas. A woman who goes by Victorian Prude delivers a Palace-worthy rant to the state legislature until the cowardly shitweasels have her forcibly removed by state troopers. Here she is being awesome in a Daily Kos interview:

Q:  Did they explain why you were forcibly removed?

A:  There was no explanation. Senator Jane Nelson tried to say I was being disrespectful but how would she know? I barely got to give the complete performance review of every member on the committee. Pointing out that Sen. Donna Campbell is an ophthalmologist is not disrespectful when she asserts in a state hearing that she should be THE expert on reproductive health. What was disrespectful was the parade of anti-choice zealots and misogynists who got up for 13 hours and called women murderers, killers, promiscuous, thoughtless, and selfish. Not a peep from committee chair Nelson on those.

She’s moving to New York, and we’ll be lucky to have her. Stop by the Palace any time, Ms. Prude. Cocktails are on us.
